Head coach John Tortorella hopes to finally lead the sliding Vancouver Canucks to a win tonight when they visit the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre. Mario Addison Jersey . Viewers in the Canadiens region can watch the game at 7:30pm et/8:30pm at. Tortorella recently returned from a 15-day suspension for his actions in a game against Calgary on Jan. 18 and has been behind the bench for the last two of Vancouvers string of five consecutive regulation losses. The Canucks went 2-4-0 while Tortorella was serving a suspension for trying to start an altercation with Calgary head coach Bob Hartley in between periods. Since returning, the fiery head coach has seen his club lose 2-0 in Detroit on Monday and 3-1 the following night in Boston, but he does believe the Canucks are making small steps in the right direction. "Im not interested in moral victories and all that," said Tortorella after Tuesdays loss against the Bruins. "We lose another game, but as a coach I have to try and hang my hat on that I see some improvement on our club within the structure of a lot of areas of our game." Vancouver was only able to get one of its 28 shots past Tuukka Rask on Tuesday and the clubs lone goal was scored by Raphael Diaz, who made his debut with the Canucks after coming over in a trade with Montreal on Monday. Diaz will face his former team for the first time tonight and forward Dale Weise, who was shipped to the Canadiens in exchange, will get the same opportunity against the Canucks. Roberto Luongo made 29 saves to drop his third straight decision between the pipes. "Good teams find a way to collect points and were not doing that right now," Luongo lamented. Luongo gets the start in goal for tonights contest. Canucks captain Henrik Sedin will not be in the lineup for tonights contest and will sit out Saturdays game against the Toronto Maple Leafs as well. Sedins been playing with a rib injury in the last two games and has scored just one goal in his last eight. Henrik also confirmed on Thursday afternoon that he is also out for the Olympic Games in Sochi. Despite their recent struggles, the Canucks are still hanging onto the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference. However, they are only a point in front of Phoenix and Dallas and two ahead of the Winnipeg Jets. Vancouver will play its final two games before the NHL breaks for the Olympics on the road. The Canucks are 0-3 on a five-game trek that is set to end Saturday in Toronto and the club is 13-13-4 as the guest this season. The Canadiens are 3-1-1 over their last five games and were able to halt a two-game slide their last time out, beating the visiting Calgary Flames by a 2-0 score on Tuesday. Carey Price was the star for Montreal in the win over the Flames, as he posted 27 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. Calgary had won five straight games before running into Price. "We played pretty well in our own end," Price said. "We limited their scoring chances and thats the biggest reason why we won tonight." Price will be between the pipes this evening. Rene Bourque got Montreal on the board with 3:45 left in the second period, while David Desharnais added an empty netter in the final minute. Weise failed to reach the scoresheet in his first game with the Habs, but he did register three shots on net and three hits in 12 minutes, 45 seconds of ice time. Montreal, which will play its last game before the Olympic break Saturday at Carolina, enters todays action tied with Toronto for third place in the Atlantic Division. The Canadiens currently hold the tiebreaker due to having played one less games than the Maple Leafs, who are occupying the seventh of eighth playoff seeds in the Eastern Conference. The Canadiens posted a 4-1 win at Vancouver on Oct. 12, giving Montreal wins in two straight and five of the past six meetings in this series. The Canucks had lost three straight in Montreal before snapping that slide with a shootout win on Dec. 8, 2011. Curtis Samuel Jersey .Simon will work with head coach Gord Dineen and associate coach Derek King behind the bench of the Toronto Maple Leafs American Hockey League affiliate for the 2014-15 season. The man who has come the closest to ending Canadas Olympic medal drought in mens skiing effectively booked his ticket to Sochi, Russia, in February. The 32-year-old from Mont-Tremblant, Que., finished eighth in the season-opening World Cup downhill in Lake Louise, Alta. That qualifies him for his third Winter Games. "Its a good thing to get it out of the way," Guay said. Dominik Paris of Italy won Saturdays race with Klaus Kroell of Austria coming second and Adrien Theaux of France third. Guay finished 1.08 seconds back of Paris, whose World Cup victory was the third of his career but first in Lake Louise. "I pushed very hard at the top and the middle section was very bumpy, so it was difficult to ski very good," Paris said. "I tried to go fast and strike the line down. At the finish, I skied very good." The men race a super-G on Sunday before heading to Beaver Creek, Colo., and the second stop on the circuit this season. Canadas last Olympic medal in skiing was Edi Podivinskys downhill bronze in 1994. Guay was fifth in both the downhill and super-G at the 2010 Winter Olympics and was fourth in super-G in 2006. He was just .03 seconds away from the super-G podium in 2010. The 2011 world downhill champion has been a consistent medal producer for Canada. At 19 World Cup career medals, Guay is one away from tying the all-time record held by Steve Podborski. So the Olympic qualification criteria of a pair of top-12 results or one top-five finish wasnt onerous for Guay to achieve. He was one of four Canadian men racing at Lake Louise who were already halfway to qualifying. Each had a top-12 they could carry over from 2012-13. But Guay was short on preparation for Lake Louise. Knee surgery in July kept him off snow until earlier this month. He was fastest in the first training run for Lake Louise, but dropped to 26th in the last training sessionn. Thomas Davis Sr Jersey. "I think its an absolutely respectable start to the season," Guay said. "A month ago I didnt even know if I was going to be able to race here. "Winning the training run threw a wrench into things because it sets your standards a little bit higher, but all things considered Im very satisfied with the day." Canada can enter a maximum of four men in downhill and super-G in Sochi. Slalom specialist Marie-Michele Gagnon of Lac-Etchemin, Que., is the only Canadian woman to have qualified for the Olympic ski team so far. Calgarys Jan Hudec, Vancouvers Manny Osborne-Paradis and Ben Thomsen of Whistler, B.C., were still looking for another top-12 to book their ticket to Sochi. Hudec was 22nd, Osborne-Paradis finished 28th and Thomsen placed 44th on Saturday. Snow flurries overnight meant the first few men down the hill -- Osborne-Paradis had the No. 4 start bib -- had to find speed in softer conditions. Visibility changed quickly from dim to bright and back to dim again for the first 30 men down the mountain. "I had good light," Kroell said. "In some places, it was in the sun. Its always the same in Lake Louise. Wednesday to Saturday, it always changes a little bit the light and the wind. "One time youre the lucky one and another youre not. Today, I think I was one of the lucky ones." Hudec, a downhill winner at Lake Louise in 2007, has undergone seven knee surgeries in his career and this is his first healthy start to a season in years. "Thats probably why Im frustrated because I feel a lot better now than I did last year," Hudec said. "I know I have what it takes to get in there. "Tomorrow its like a total regroup. Super-G is a different game, different race. Hopefully Ill have a better start number tomorrow and better weather and go for it." Conrad Pridy of Whistler was 32nd, Jeffrey Frisch of Mont-Tremblant, Que., placed 35th and Conrads brother Morgan finished 45th.
