NFL Week 3 Sunday Standouts: Defense - PFFCB Jalen Mills Womens Customized Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys , Philadelphia Eagles, 84.4 Overall Grade. Mills was very active throughout the day, finishing with three pass breakups on the six throws in his coverage. His two pass interference penalties against T.Y. Hilton brought his grade down a bit, but ultimately, he only allowed eight yards in his coverage on the day. Across 42 snaps in coverage, that pegs him at an impressive 0.19 yards per coverage snap.Doug Pederson gives updates on Jay Ajayi, Darren Sproles, and Alshon Jeffery - BGNPLUS: The Eagles head coach talked about the close Week 3 victory, and what they have to do heading into the Titans matchup.Fletcher Cox attributes his jump in play this season to Chris Long - PhillyVoice“I think the biggest thing for me is that they challenge me every day, in practice and games, and I listened,” Cox said. “My teammates challenged me, and I respect Chris Long so much. The thing about Chris is that he challenged me every single day. It just raises the bar for me as a player.Three moments that defined Carson Wentz’s comeback - ESPNWentz called it a “normal scramble” and “pretty standard” for how he plays the game, and that’s true. But to have both the willingness and ability to do that in your first game back is no small thing. ”It changes the game, it extends drives,” center Jason Kelce said. “We were one of the best third-down offenses in the NFL with him in there. It’s just another dynamic the defenses have to [deal with]. It’s definitely a dynamic that helps us be successful on offense, and that’s one of the reasons he is a special player.” Running back Corey Clement agreed. ”Yep www.eaglescheapshops.com , that’s Carson,” Clement said. “You have to take the leash off him. That guy ... he’s always wired to do something great.”Fletcher Cox Deserves League-Wide Respect - PE.comA player with three Pro Bowls and three All-Pro seasons on his r茅sum茅, Fletcher Cox wanted something more from his offseason after winning Super Bowl LII. He wanted to be faster on the field, and more agile, with better conditioning. He wanted to take his training to a new level, hopeful that the work there would show up on the football field. Three games into the 2018 season, Cox is dominating. He’s always dominated, but now he’s really, really taking over games. Cox has three quarterback sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, and five tackles for loss, three key statistical categories in which he is already tracking well ahead of his career bests (9.5 sacks, 2015; 34 quarterback hurries, 2017; 14 tackles for loss, 2015).How Doug Pederson got a huge call to go Eagles’ way - NBCSPHolding calls on defensive linemen are pretty rare; it’s not something refs are probably super focused on during games. They’re looking for holding from offensive linemen and from defensive backs. So Pederson’s bringing it up to the officials likely put it on their radar. And it helped the Eagles when they really needed it.Eagles’ offensive line can’t afford to get knocked for a loop while protecting Carson Wentz - Daily News”One is the offensive line gets beat, sack. It happens,” Pederson said. “Second one is Philadelphia Eagles T-Shirt , quarterback hangs on to the ball or tries to scramble, gets sacked. The third one is flat-out coverage. They got you wired and you’re trying to extend the play. So a little bit of all three of those [Sunday] with the five sacks. Couple situations, maybe just throw the ball away and skip it and not put yourself in that situation. But they’re all teachable and correctable and we’ll learn from them.” Wentz, who hadn’t played since Dec. 10, certainly seemed to be holding the ball longer than was optimal, and was not quite as crisp in his decision-making as he will be once he gets used to playing again. But the Colts have a big, strong defensive front, with athletic linebackers who can shoot gaps. Particularly in the second half, they won more battles against the Eagles’ vaunted offensive line than is usually the case. The Six Plays That Explain NFL Week 3 - The RingerAnd midway through the fourth, Gase dialed up the Dolphins’ version of the Philly Philly, the Philly Special variation that the Eagles ran in Week 1. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill took the snap and handed the ball to Gore, who tossed it to Wilson as he ran what looked to be an end-around play and then threw downfield to a streaking Grant for the touchdown.Winners and Losers from Titans 9, Jaguars 6 - Music City MiraclesMarcus Mariota: It’s rare that the quarterback of a game that finished 9-6 can be considered a winner, but Mariota certainly deserves to be listed here. He finished 12 of 18 for 100 yards passing and added 7 carries for 51 yards on the ground, but the stat line does little to describe how well Mariota played despite being less than 100% and facing one of the best defenses in the NFL. He also had a couple critical drops by receivers on good throws that could have extended drives. Most importantly, his throws were on target and appeared to have plenty of zip. The Titans didn’t ask him to do much with regards to attacking deep down field, but he capably executed the plays that were called. Regardless of Gabbert’s status with the concussion Philadelphia Eagles Hats , I’d suspect that Mariota is back under center when the Titans take on the defending champs next week.Evan Engram injury: Tight end “week to week” with MCL sprain - Big Blue ViewNew York Giants tight end Evan Engram reportedly suffered a sprained MCL on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Per Adam Schefter, he will be considered “week to week.” Art Stapleton reported that the MRI found “no significant tears” in Engram’s right knee and that “4-6 weeks is the most accurate timetable.” [BLG Note: Eagles play the Giants in Week 6.]Report: Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee to “miss a few weeks at least” after injuring other hamstring - Blogging The BoysRapoport is hearing that the star linebacker will miss “a few weeks at least” after injuring his other hamstring during the week three defeat. Lee rebounded from leaving the Giants game with a hamstring injury by playing very well initially in the Seattle game. This is obviously not great news for a team that already has so many question marks surrounding the offensive side of the ball. [BLG Note: Terrible news for Dak Prescott.]The Rosen era is upon us: Arizona Cardinals announce Josh Rosen as starting quarterback - Revenge of the BirdsThe reason to go to Rosen is simple, he gives the Cardinals something more than Sam Bradford. Bradford has looked tentative, he is statuesque in the pocket because of the injuries in his career and that has made him less effective.Report: Everson Griffen involved in incident at Vikings hotel on Saturday - Daily NorsemanHe wasn’t at U.S. Bank Stadium for Sunday’s gameWhich NFL teams are realistic trade candidates for Le’Veon Bell? - SB NationWhile it’s pretty unlikely the Steelers would move their star to a team they’ll face twice a year until the heat death of the universe, there are other destinations that could make for a win-win situation in a blockbuster deal. Nine teams in the league could absorb the rest of Bell’s contract without having to cut anyone to make room under the league’s $180.2 million cap....Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_RadioJay Ajayi Injury: Eagles place running back on injured reserve Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi is being placed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL, according to an official announcement from the team. Ajayi’s season is over. This new is, uh, unexpected. We already knew that Ajayi was playing through a fractured bone in his back. But there was no indication Ajayi had suffered an ACL tear. This development could very well mean the end of Ajayi’s Eagles career. The 25-year-old is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason. In the meantime, the Eagles are down to just Darren Sproles, Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, and Josh Adams at running back on their 53-man roster. Sproles hasn’t played since Week 1 while Clement has missed the last two weeks with a quad injury. Smallwood has stepped up but it’s clear he has limitations. Adams is an undrafted rookie free agent who began the season on the practice squad. The Le’Veon Bell trade rumors suddenly make a lot more sense now with Ajayi done for the season. Reports indicate the Eagles “have been mulling the potential of a Le’Veon Bell trade for a while now.” Even if it’s not trading for Bell, the Eagles could really use some help in the backfield. We’ll see what Howie Roseman can come up with.In a corresponding roster move with placing Ajayi on IR, the Eagles claimed free agent defensive tackle T.Y. McGill off waivers. Philadelphia unsuccessfully tried to claim him earlier this year. The McGill addition might not bode well the injury status for veteran defender Haloti Ngata, who had to sit out with a calf issue in Week 5.UPDATE: More info on when the injury occurred. Impossible to question Ajayi’s toughness....NOTABLE EAGLES PLAYERS ON INJURED RESERVEWR Mack Hollins - Eligible to be activated after Week 8TE Richard Rodgers - Eligible to be activated after Week 8WR Mike Wallace - Eligible to be activated after Week 10S Rodney McLeod - Eligible to be activated after Week 11RB Jay Ajayi - Eligible to be activated after Week 13
